ANTI- RAGGING COMMITTEE
Ananda Chandra College, in conformity with Supreme Court and UGC guidelines has a functional Anti-Ragging committee. The College has been following a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. The Committee ensures strict enforcement of the designated rules regarding prevention of ragging, not only in the academic campus but also in the Girls’ and Boys’ hostels.The vision of the Committee is to build a ragging- free environment by instilling the principles of democratic values, tolerance, empathy, compassion and sensitivity so that students become responsible future citizens.
Activities:
Guided by the dictum “prevention is better than cure”, the Anti ragging Committee, Ananda Chandra College, gives primary importance to prevention of any act of ragging in academic and hostel campus. The College has installed anti ragging posters at strategic places for display throughout the campus and arranges awareness and orientation programmes in the beginning of each academic session either centrally or departmentally. The Committee oversees the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions.
Objectives:
- To prohibit any conduct by any student or students that has been identified as ragging as per the UGC Regulations, 2009.
- To create awareness among students about the consequences of ragging.
- To keep a constant eye and vigilance so as to prevent its occurrence.
- To address any ragging issue immediately and take immediate action as per committee recommendation.
- To hold Anti-Ragging Committee meetings at regular intervals to chalk out policies on curbing the menace of ragging in higher institutions, in line with UGC Regulations, 2009, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt.
