Introduction

The Women’s Cell of Ananda Chandra College, Jalpaiguri, is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all women on campus. Committed to promoting gender equality and enhancing awareness on critical issues, the Cell undertakes a wide range of initiatives throughout the year.

A major focus of the Cell is the annual celebration of International Women’s Day, where the spirit of womanhood is honoured, achievements are celebrated, and vital conversations on women’s rights and empowerment are encouraged. The Cell also organizes regular awareness programmes addressing health issues specific to women, aiming to equip students with essential knowledge about physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Understanding the urgent need to combat social evils, the Women’s Cell actively conducts sensitization programmes on women and child trafficking, highlighting preventive measures and legal safeguards. Further, to cultivate a culture of equality and mutual respect, the Cell leads gender equity and gender sensitization programmes that challenge stereotypes and promote inclusivity.

As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, the Women’s Cell also oversees gender audits to assess and enhance the institution’s gender responsiveness. Through these initiatives, the Cell strives to build a campus that truly celebrates womanhood, supports empowerment, and ensures a just and equitable academic community for all.
